Overview
What Is Telehealth Physical Therapy?
Telehealth Physical Therapy is an online healthcare service conducted via video call. It will allow you to talk through your area/s of concern and have your practitioner guide you through an examination to determine the most appropriate treatment. This can include education on the injury/condition, management techniques to help improve symptoms and exercises to aid in recovery.
Who Uses Telehealth Physiotherapy
Telehealth Physiotherapy is an alternative consultation option if we are unable to see you face to face at PEAK. While hands-on therapy can be beneficial for management and recovery of injuries, positive long term outcomes are commonly a result of the appropriate advice and exercise for your personal needs and goals. Telehealth enables the delivery of each of these and can be utilised for most conditions including:
Telehealth Physiotherapy for Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common and limiting injuries we see at PEAK. While hands on therapy can be helpful during back pain the most effective management approach is receiving education and exercises for your injury recovery. Telehealth Physiotherapy consultations can identify what you should be doing to help reduce your Back Pain and prevent it from recurring.
Telehealth Physiotherapy for Neck Pain
Similar to back pain, the neck is also an area where knowing what you should and shouldn’t be doing is invaluable to reduce your neck pain. Your Physiotherapist will provide education on your injury, an understanding of why it may have occurred and what can be done to deal with the current Neck Pain and prevent it from recurring.
Telehealth Physiotherapy for Knee Arthritis
One of the most effective ways to treat knee arthritis is through exercise. This can be easily delivered through a Telehealth consultation. Your Physiotherapist will guide you through appropriate exercises for you to help improve the strength and function of your knee.
Telehealth Physiotherapy for Shoulder Pain
It is not uncommon for shoulder pain to occur after exercise, playing sport, a busy weekend in the backyard or cleaning the house. Other times it may be from a sudden event such as a fall. Telehealth is an effective way to have your shoulder pain assessed to receive appropriate advice and exercises on how to reduce your shoulder pain and work towards preventing it from recurring.

Online Physio Consultation and Prevention Classes
An online PEAK Physiotherapy consultation starts by getting in contact with us via phone or email, or you can simply book online. One of our team will then get in contact with you and email through our New Patient form which will provide your practitioner with your details and relevant medical history. This allows us to be as prepared as possible for your initial online consultation.
Your practitioner will get in contact with you prior to your appointment to ensure you are well prepared and set up for the consultation. They will discuss what means of communication will work best for you (phone, laptop/computer, tablet) and where best to be set up in your home.
During the consultation your Physiotherapist will ask you further questions to gain a clear understanding of your issue. This will then allow us to guide you through an examination to determine the cause of your concern. From there your practitioner will be able to educate you about what is going on and the appropriate management. Our focus will be centred on your goals and working with you to achieve them.
At PEAK we place high importance on injury prevention and as a result offer online prevention classes. Online prevention classes are an effective way to progress from a one on one consultation with your practitioner to exercise-led prevention classes to avoid re-injury. It is a fantastic way to improve your strength and fitness, to get into a regular exercise routine, work towards your goals that you have set for yourself and improve your general health and wellbeing. Each program is personalised to you and your goals. Prior to starting the classes we conduct a one to one online assessment to talk about what you would like out of the classes and to determine the type program that is most appropriate to achieve your goals.
Other Online Consultations Offered By Peak
Other PEAK Telehealth services include Chiropractic and Podiatry Telehealth Consultations. Both of these services work the same way as our Online Physiotherapy Telehealth consultations. If you need guidance with any foot or leg complaints our Podiatry practitioners will be most suited as your first point of contact at PEAK, whereas our Chiropractic practitioners will be able to assist you with any complaints that are musculoskeletal related. Our Chiropractors also take some of our online prevention classes.
