Scotty’s journey at PEAK started back in 2018 when he was suffering from a knee injury. Since then, he has been very involved in the PEAK running community, signing up to our Gold Coast Marathon teams and helping with Sunday long runs.

Last July, Scotty was set to go for a personal best time at the Gold Coast Marathon event after training for several months leading up to it. When this event was cancelled with just 3 days notice, he maintained a positive attitude and was quick to post on the PEAK Stride Club page encouraging athletes to change their mindset and stay motivated to do a ‘virtual’ run on their own. When restrictions eased, Scotty organised a small virtual event near his house. With this event, he motivated 3 PEAK athletes to run their first half marathon sporting their PEAK singlets, as well as running his own 42.2km event.

At PEAK, one of our values is ‘Choose Your Pain’, which involves choosing the pain of discipline over dysfunction.  For the past year, Scotty has been so disciplined with training for his Dream Big goal of running 100km at the Last Man Standing Event. This event involves running 6.7km per hour, every hour, until you decide to stop.  Leading up to this event he left no stone unturned, completing several 60 and 70km training runs starting at 8pm through until 4am.  Unfortunately, 2 weeks out from the event, Brisbane went into another snap lockdown and the event was postponed. Scotty immediately saw this as an opportunity and went about organising his own event in his suburb. He set out at 3am to conquer his goal of 100km, which he completed in 14 hours – all of which was around a 2.5km track!  In 2022, Scotty has set himself the goal of completing 160km at the Last Man Standing Event.
