When Loretta first attended PEAK, she had injured her knee in a very innocuous snowboarding incident. It was constantly swollen. She is a very motivated trainer, and it was impacting her ability to exercise. She owns her own successful business as a personal trainer, and it was compromising her ability to work. She also had an impending family overseas snowboarding trip planned and was concerned with how she would go with this.

Loretta worked diligently with her physio and rehab over the following months and was able to settle her pain/swelling, overcoming her limitations and being able to go on and enjoy a great family holiday.

But Loretta wanted more. Despite being such a motivated trainer throughout her life, Loretta admitted her knee hadn’t truly been right for many years before this incident. And it was time for her to commit to a specific rehabilitation and high-performance plan.

DREAMING BIG

Loretta then decided to set herself a big hairy audacious goal.  She decided that she would aim to compete in a Masters Sprint event in 2021. Loretta was not a sprinter. In fact, she had never competed in athletics in her life. When verbalising her goal out loud for the first time, it was evident that this was something that she had been thinking about for some time. But this is a goal that Loretta will admit “scares her”. And she needed to feel confident and needed to know she had the support to fulfil this dream.

Here you can see Loretta penning that goal on the Dream Big wall, and making it official.

Ever since that day, Loretta has been working relentlessly towards this goal. Loretta has been working with PEAK strength and conditioning coach Andy on her own personalised strength and conditioning program. She has also enlisted the help of PEAK’s resident sprint coach Greg, who has been coaching her through the fine skill of sprinting and run programming.

Loretta is planning to fulfil this goal in November this year, and when she crosses that finish line, it will be the culmination of an incredible two-year journey working tirelessly to better herself. All whilst running her own business, and supporting a family with two beautiful children.

If you see Loretta in the arena, please join us in congratulating her on her successful journey so far, and wish her luck for the big day. We’ll keep you posted on how she goes.
