Adna first arrived at PEAK in November of 2019 and was suffering from low back pain. Adna was not a runner, but loved the idea of 'dreaming big'.
After getting the news from her GP in early 2020 that the recent scan of her lumbar spine confirmed she had a low back disc bulge, she was hesitant to get into strength and prevention classes.
After ongoing crippling, acute episodes of pain—she decided to take the plunge to take some proactive steps for her future.
Fast forward one and a half years and Adna is a shadow of her former self. She is now able to squat, chin up, shoulder press amongst other impressive feats within the gym. Outside of the gym, Adna has been able to get back into her work without discomfort and even more impressively has become a keen runner.
When the idea of running the gold coast marathon came up early in 2021, Adna was now ready to take the plunge to increase her training even further.
Consistently training 4-5 times per week on top of work and other commitments, Adna was ready to smash the run. Alas, at the final hour, and with the current situation many of us are facing in the current times, COVID got in the way. Whilst it is unfortunate that the event did not go ahead, the lesson for us is that at times the goal of challenging yourself physically is ultimately the perfect vehicle to discover a positive and life-changing attitude that will be with us long after the finish line of a goal.
Adna has committed to running the half marathon virtually and we cannot wait to celebrate with her!
