Qualifying for this event was a significant achievement for Adrienne when she finished 18th in the Australian online quarterfinals. The 24yr old has been involved in CrossFit for three years now and has been training at CrossFit CrossAxed located in Morningside. Adrienne is passionate about pushing her body to its limits and challenging herself to be the best athlete that she can be. She is an inspiration to all that know her and her dedication and give-it-a-go attitude is something to admire.

Adrienne competed at the Torian Pro event on the weekend of the 20th-22nd of May. She did very well, placing 22nd after completing six events. The workouts varied across the weekend to involve a combination of common crossfit movements aimed to push athletes to their physical and mental limits. Her highest placing was 11th in her favourite event involving barbell complex lifts which challenged athletes to lift their maximum weight for 3 cleans, 2 front squats and 1 shoulder to overhead jerk.

PEAK physiotherapist Katie recently sat down with Adrienne to learn more about her story and her journey to competing on the national stage. Here’s a snippet of the conversation below:

Q: Why do you love CrossFit?

A: I love pushing myself to try to be the fittest, strongest, fastest and the best possible athlete that I can be

Q: What is your favourite CrossFit movement?

A: Complex lifts, which involves moving a heavy barbell

Q: What does your training look like across a week?

A: I train 5 days a week for 3-4 hours at CrossFit CrossAxed. My workouts vary but often will include metcon, conditioning and lifting

Q: What are your goals with crossfit?

A: The CrossFit Games are the ultimate dream, but I love to push myself to my limits

Q: Who was your inspiration growing up?

A: I grew up doing equestrian riding so one of my idols is Edwina Tops-Alexander, who is Australia’s leading showjumper and one of the highest ranked female riders in the world. I idolize any elite sporting person who is at the top of their respective fields.

Q: What keeps you motivated every morning?

A: The CrossFit community that I train with and the feeling of hitting personal bests

Q: What’s a quote that motivates you?

A: I like the saying “you can do it” because it reminds me to believe in myself

Q: Favourite cheat meal?

A: Burgers and pizza

Q: If you could remove one movement out of crossfit, what would it be?

A: Handstand push-ups

Adrienne believes that CrossFit is so much more than just working out. She described how the community is a massive part of the sport and no matter what level of experience you are, you should give it a go. Adrienne mentioned how CrossFit changed her life, and encourages anyone who is interested to give it a try because it may change theirs.

The PEAK tribe is so proud of Adrienne for ticking off a massive goal in her crossfit journey, and we are looking forward to seeing all the amazing things she will achieve in the future.
